The ThirdQuarter2018‘Cost of Living Index’(COLI) results are in and the cost of living in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is nearly 10%below the national average at 90.8. Unsurprisingly, the cost of living in Rio Rancho is considerably lower than other notable cities such as Phoenix, Boise, Dallas, Salt Lake City, Reno, Denver, SanDiego, Boston, and Seattle.

COLI provides a consistent measurement ofthe after-tax cost for a professional or managerial standard of living in 259 communities across the United States. A community’s final score is a composite of six areas – housing, utilities, grocery items, transportation, health care, and other goods and services.

The category-specific results for Rio Rancho are as follows:

• Housing – 81.5;
• Utilities – 92.7;
•Transportation – 93.4;
• Healthcare – 105.1;
• Miscellaneous Goods & Services – 93.2.

Rio Rancho’s low cost of living contributes to its excellent quality of life. A fact that attributed to its number 30 spot on Money Magazine’s annual ranking of the ‘Best Places to Live in America.’
